Careers at New England Machine Tools
Design & Build Real Machines. Transform Manufacturing. Scale Up.
New England Machine Tools designs and builds custom high precision CNC grinding machines, automation systems, and robotic solutions in Bristol, Connecticut. We are looking for people who want to solve practical manufacturing problems, work hands-on with real equipment, and grow with a small, fast-moving team.
At New England Machine Tools, engineers and technical team members work close to the hardware, close to the build floor, and close to the customer problem. This is a good fit for people who want broad exposure, real ownership, and the chance to contribute directly to machine design, machine build, automation, and product improvement.
We are a small company environment, not a large corporate structure. That means the right people can learn quickly, take on responsibility early, and have a visible impact on how products are designed, built, and delivered.

-
Contribute to internal product development by exploring new machine features, mechanisms, options, and related product ideas in parallel with customer work
-
Support active project delivery by helping solve design and build issues quickly during assembly, checkout, and release
-
Help establish and improve best practices in design, documentation, and the practical use of modern tools, including AI-assisted workflows where they can make engineering faster and better
What We Are Looking For

BS in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, or expected graduation soon;0–2 years of relevant experience (internships, co-ops, projects, or early full-time roles)
-
Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor through school projects, internships, co-ops, or practical work
-
Strong desire to build hardware, solve practical mechanical problems, and work close to the action rather than only in CAD
-
Comfort working in a small, fast-moving environment with changing priorities and direct feedback
-
Interest in machine design, CNC equipment, automation, manufacturing, and prototype-to-production work
-
Strong communication skills and willingness to work closely with leadership, builders, technicians, and other functions as needed
-
Ability to work on-site in Bristol, CT on a full-time basis
You Might Be a Strong Fit If

You like building and shipping more than theorizing
-
You move comfortably between CAD, the shop floor, and customer-facing technical conversations
-
You want to work directly with the owner and help scale a growing company
-
You are energized by challenge, pace, and ownership rather than a narrowly defined job box
